Last night I got the opportunity to see one of my favorite bands, The 1975, at Terminal 5 in New York City. The 1975 are a four piece band from Manchester, England. Their music doesn't fall into a definite genre and dabbles in everything from electronic to rock. Their self titled debut album peaked at number one in the United Kingdom charts. If you want to read more about their album, check out my album review

The show had two support acts, Young Rising Sons and CRUISR, both male four piece bands (like The 1975). The two bands each had about a twenty minute set and were both awesome. Young Rising Sons came on first and they were an edgy rock band. Their songs were catchy and all had a good beat and I have already bought their music on iTunes! I had been looking forward to seeing CRUISR because I am a big fan of their song "Kidnap Me". CRUSIR's music is pop inspired and it shows in their sound. For anyone who is a fan of Bleachers or Foster The People I suggest you check out CRUISR and listen to some of their amazing music!
After all the waiting and anticipation The 1975 was up next. The crowd went wild when drummer George Daniel came on stage and started opening with the beat to their hit song "The City" while singer Matty Healy, basist Ross MacDonald and guitarist Adam Hann emerged onto the stage. There was a fog machine and strobe lights going to the beat of the song. The energy at Terminal 5 was insane. Everybody was screaming out every lyric and jumping up and down. That is the effect that these four British boys have on their fans. The enthusiasm that they show on stage is clear and that projects to the audience. Part of the reason that I love The 1975 so much (besides their amazing music) is how dedicated they are. As Matty said last night before playing his solo piano song "Is There Somebody Who Can Watch You", the guys have been touring for the past two years and haven't had any chance to go back home. Yet, they are still giving it their all every night at their concerts. The highlight song for me last night was "Robbers". "Robbers" is my absolute favorite song by the band and their live performances of it always amaze me. Matty puts so much emotion into it and the song is so well written.
The 1975's North American tour might be coming to an end, but you can catch them in Asia and Australia where the tour will be continuing until January 2015. If you missed them on this tour be sure to check out all of summer 2015's music festivals where you can rest assured they will be performing at!
