NYFW: Mara Hoffman
On Saturday February 14, I was lucky enough to be invited to the Mara Hoffman New York Fashion Week Show. I love Mara Hoffman so I was very excited! In the past, the brand's designs have been very colorful and included many intricate tribal patterns. Hoffman draws inspiration from nature, world travel, mythology, and magic which all show in her F/W 2015-2016 collection.
The show took place at Lincoln Center, where all the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week s-hows are happening. There were booths from sponsors like TRESemmé where you could get your hair done and Papyrus where you could mail out Valentine cards. I loved the atmosphere in the venue and thought it was so fun to see what everyone was wearing. There was everything from crazy tutus to Louis Vuitton. What I noticed were lot of were floppy hats and chunky black boots.
The show was pretty crowded because everyone wanted to see what Mara Hoffman has in store for her upcoming collection. The atmosphere of the show was very bohemian, which is very fitting for the brand's vibe. There was some Alt-J playing and the lights were dimmed down low. The models all had the same pretty mermaid braid which I absolutely loved! I think the hairstyle is so cool for casual but can also work with dressy. There was minimal makeup which left all the attention to the amazing clothing.
Like all the other collections, Autumn/Winter 2015 is going to include a lot of intricate, colorful patterns. There was also a lot of gold which I loved. I think the gold patterned clothing has a Egyptian vibe and it is so pretty.
On more of the Wintery side there were lots of knits such as jackets and blanket scarves. I loved the coats because they were unlike anything I had seen before. They all were so colorful and had such vibrant colors. I also love the scarves and think that they would make such a cool statement piece with a solid color, like shown on the models on the far right and far left.
I hope you check out Mara Hoffman's new collection because you will not want to miss the amazing pieces! New York Fashion Week isn't over and I will be attending more shows in the upcoming days.
